SC125MS

The SC125MS is a reliable, advanced single-axis stepper motor translator-driver.
Just supply a step and direction signal from a PC or other controlling device
and the SC125MS will do the rest.
The SC125MS can drive bipolar stepper motors up to 2.5A per phase, in either
full, 1/2, 1/4, or 1/8 step microsteps. On a standard 200 step per
revolution motor that equals 1600 steps per revolution!
Also, the SC125MS allows you to set the current limit in the windings of the
stepper motor by simply turning on or off the on-board DIP switches. This allows
you to drive motors at higher than their rated voltage for increased torque
even at high speeds. You can also use a resistor connected to two terminal
block positions to set the current level.
Possibly the best feature of the SC125MS is the included heat sink, fan, and
aluminum enclosure, for worry-free operation regardless of your system's demands. And
with the
DB25IDC6 cable you can
connect up to four SC125MS drivers to a single parallel port just by
plugging in a single cable.

We also offer a version of the SC125MS that does not include the aluminum enclosure or fan.
This board comes completely populated and tested with included heat sink, and functions
identically to the SC125MS. The part number for the board without the aluminum enclosure and
fan is SC125MSX.

Motor Enable Selection
The SC125MS is equipped with optoisolators that physically isolate the step,
direction, motor enable, microstepping, and logic ground signals from the
controlling logic device. These can be supplied by a PC, microcontroller, PLC, etc.
through the 6-position terminal socket or 10-pin IDC connector.
The SC125MS requires a TTL-level step and direction signal to rotate the stepper
motor. There are two options for providing these signals. You can connect
individual leads to the terminal block inputs, or use a cable to connect to the
10-pin IDC connector on the back of the board.
The SC125MS uses PWM or "chopper" circuitry to limit the amount of current
in the stepper motor, over a range of voltages. You can select
the current in the motor by manipulating 7 DIP switches on the board
or by placing a resistor between two terminal block positions on the back of the board.
You can connect your power supply to the SC125MS using 2 leads connected to terminal
block positions on the back of the board (7V - 30V), or using the power socket
connector (7V - 24V). The mating connector needs to be 2.1 mm x 5.5 mm and
center positive.
The SC125MS can operate motors in full, 1/2, 1/4, or 1/8 step microsteps. The
level of microstepping is determined by manipulating 2 dip switch positions, or
by providing TTL-level signals to either the 10-pin IDC connector or to 2 terminal
block position using individual wires.
The SC125MS is equipped with 2 indicator LED's. The top LED is on when the SC125MS
is connected to a power supply. The bottom LED is on when the motor is enabled and
current is applied to the windings of the stepper motor.
The two terminal blocks on the SC125MS, a 6-position socket on the front and an
8-position socket on the back, are detachable from the board. This allows easy
transition from one controlling device to another. Also, the SC125MS comes with
a large heat sink to dissipate heat.
The SC125MS can disable the stepper motor to conserve current while not rotating.
You can use a DIP switch to have the motor always enabled, or supply a TTL-level
input either to a terminal block position or a pin of the 10-pin IDC connector
to enable and disable the windings of the motor.
